Meringue buttercream vs Regular buttercream?

Which is nicer?

My usual recipe for buttercream is just butter, icing sugar (confectioners sugar in the US) and some food colouring. Or some lemon flavour or Cocoa Powder for different flavours.

I’ve seen Recipes For meringue buttercream, using whipped egg whites, sugar and butter. But I’m a bit wary of Eating Raw eggs, also, I want to know if it tastes nice? Also is it easier than regular buttercream to ice cupcakes with?

I prefer regular buttercream. I’ve had meringue buttercream and other types and they don’t taste right to me.
